Job Purpose:
The role is focused on driving excellence in Category Management processes within our Electronics spend across all of Detection business in the APAC Region ensuring that all parts of the business are aligned to category strategy. Driving improvements in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and speed to market across the category area via excellent supplier relationship management and execution within the wider Smiths stakeholder group.
Duties:
- Develop CM processes with the Global Category Manager for Electronics across the APAC Region with value stream thinking at the heart of process design.
- Ensure key strategic sourcing processes become imbedded within our manufacturing facilities and service hubs.
- Ensure long term approach is taken and category strategy is developed with all key stakeholders within geographical remit. This will include but is not limited to Senior Technology and Operations leaders.
- Ensure the electronics equipment category strategy is developed socialised understood within responsibility area.
- Ensure that business with key supplier partners is awarded on a TCO basis considering Cost Working Capital COPQ VOTD.
- Relentlessly drive lead time improvements via close collaboration with stakeholders in SCM & IBP.
- Via our matrix organisational structure ensure excellence in strategic sourcing processes is developed with direct material category managers within our sourcing teams.
- Working with the Global Category Manager Electronics manage supplier segmentation / panel management approach that will serve as the platform for the SRM level to be deployed into each electronics equipment vendor.
- Ensure excellence in SRM is executed across the electronics equipment supply base within remit delivering improved performance and incumbency with key supplier partners.
- Execute Low Cost Country Sourcing efforts reducing Detections TCO within category responsibility.
- Ensure key strategic sourcing processes become embedded when both selecting and managing our supplier partners.
- Working with the Global Category Manager Electronics ensure strategies are aligned to Smiths Group direction and policies.
Ensure excellence in SRM is executed across responsibility area delivering improved performance and incumbency with key supplier partners.
Qualifications :
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
Preferred to have B.S c. an Engineering or related topic
Desired to have or working towards APICS / MCIPS
Experience in managing electronics or technically complex product categories
Strong personal drive and motivation with ability to take initiative and drive issues
Analytic and problem solving mindset
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Self-starter with ability to priorities and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic growing and developing organization
Fluent in English
Cultural awareness
Planning and Decision Making:
- The ability to identify process improvements and embed them into daily working practices in multiple locations within our Category Management & Supplier relationship Management Processes.
- Effective Cross functional collaboration will be pivotal to the success of the role.
Impact and Scope:
- Overall responsibility for identifying and executing improvements into Strategic Sourcing processes that will improve supplier performance communication and optimize total cost of supply.
Key Internal and External Relationships:
- This position will report to the Global Category Manager Electronics. Key internal relationships will include extensive stakeholder management within the Global Sourcing Team Supply Chain Management & Technology Groups.
Work balance:
- Leadership and management activities - 20%
- Technical activities (design problem solving data analysis etc.) - 80%
