The Night Auditor is responsible for ensuring the hotels operational and financial continuity during the night shift combining excellence in guest service with accuracy in accounting and auditing processes.
He or she acts as the main representative of the Front Office in the absence of the Night Manager during the night ensuring a safe and seamless experience aligned with the hotels luxury standards while correctly executing the daily financial closing.
Responsibilities
Guest Service and Night Operations
Welcomes registers and bids farewell to guests during the night shift ensuring professional warm and efficient service.
Acts as the main point of contact for guests overnight handling requests concerns and special situations with autonomy and sound judgment.
Resolves complaints and sensitive situations in accordance with established protocols escalating to management when necessary.
Ensures a safe calm and comfortable environment in public areas and the lobby during the shift.
Promotes and performs upselling of rooms and hotel services when operations allow.
Night Audit and Financial Control
Fully and accurately executes all night audit and daily closing procedures.
Reviews rates routings taxes charges and transactions to ensure financial integrity.
Performs cash reconciliations fund balancing and cash control in accordance with Finance department standards.
Generates and distributes nightly financial and operational reports within established deadlines.
Identifies discrepancies errors or process deviations and reports them in a timely manner.
Operations and Security
Oversees lobby and public area activity during the night shift ensuring order and compliance with standards.
Coordinates with Security and Maintenance regarding any technical issues or risk situations.
Actively participates in emergency management in accordance with the hotels emergency response plan.
Controls access and manages the issuance and safekeeping of master keys when required.
Operational Coordination and Continuity
Reviews next-day arrivals departures and requests ensuring information is updated in the PMS.
Ensures proper preparation of VIP reservations late arrivals and special profiles.
Maintains structured and detailed communication with the day shift through clear incident reports and follow-up notes.
Ensures accurate updating of guest profiles and comments in the hotel management system.
Representation and Night Leadership
Represents the Front Office during the night shift in the absence of management.
Supports the training of new team members in audit procedures and night service standards when required.
Leads by example conveying professionalism composure and a strong service orientation.
Qualifications :
Education
Experience
Previous experience in Front Office or Night Audit preferably in 4- or 5-star hotels.
Experience with PMS (Opera or similar systems).
Knowledge of basic accounting processes and cash handling.
Competencies
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Strong discipline in handling cash and financial procedures.
Service-oriented mindset with the ability to anticipate guest needs.
Proficiency in English; additional languages are an asset.
Category B driving license.
Candidate must be a citizen of the European Union or possess a valid work permit for Spain.
