Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior HR & Labour Relations Partner to join our growing HR team. This is an exceptional opportunity for a Labour Relations professional to join a highly-talented engineering and manufacturing business. Responsibilities

  • Provide expert Labour and Employee Relations guidance and support to our HR team and leaders tailoring best practices to the needs of our growing business
  • As a member of our HR Business Partner team provide advice on:
    • Performance management
    • Collective agreement interpretation
    • Labour and employee relations principles and legislation
  • Collaborate with our Total Rewards team to develop compensation strategies for our unionized employees
  • Partner with our Talent Acquisition team by ensuring our recruitment processes align with collective agreement requirements
  • Connect and build relationships with leaders union representatives and employees to proactively resolve conflicts
  • Develop and deliver presentations to senior leaders on Labour and Employee Relations strategies enhancing understanding and advocacy
  • Lead collective bargaining with our manufacturing and professional unions conducting research developing bargaining strategies and applying interest-based techniques
  • Develop and lead training on Labour and Employee Relations equipping leaders with essential knowledge and skills
  • Lead grievance resolution and workplace investigations as required to inform strategic HR initiatives
  • Collect metrics perform data analysis and make recommendations
  • Act as a key contributor to various strategic HR initiatives directly impacting organizational effectiveness

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration/Commerce with coursework in Industrial Relations or equivalent
  • Significant experience working in a unionized environment
  • Proven ability in conflict resolution with a track record of engaging with leaders and union representatives to proactively resolve challenges
  • Experience in interpreting and drafting collective agreement language bargaining proposals and settlement agreements
  • Experience in preparing collective bargaining strategies and active participation in collective bargaining

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Highly knowledgeable in Ontario labour and employment law
  • Knowledge of variety of HR disciplines including Performance Management Total Rewards and Talent Acquisition
  • Enthusiastic contributor with strong initiative
  • Excellent business acumen

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Post-graduate education in labour relations (e.g. MIRHR MIR)
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation
  • Experience leading collective bargaining
  • Knowledge of Alberta Nova Scotia and/or Quebec labour and employment law

The hiring range for this position is $93600 to $117000 CAD.
