A friendly and ambitious secondary school in Chorley is seeking an energetic School Caretaker to join their team. This role is about more than just fixing thingsits about being a dependable presence on campus who ensures that every student feels safe and that every teacher has a classroom that works.
The Snapshot
Location: Chorley Lancashire (Convenient for M6 M61 and M65 commuters)
Salary:(Lancashire County Council Grade)
Contract: Full-time Permanent
Requirement: Experience with Health & Safety legislation is highly desirable.
Detailed Responsibilities
Operational Excellence: You will manage the day-to-day life of the school building. This includes checking the heating levels in the winter ensuring the halls are ventilated in the summer and keeping a meticulous log of all site repairs and inspections.
Security & Key Holding: You will be responsible for the first line of defensethe school perimeter. This includes checking fences maintaining external lighting and managing the electronic door entry systems across the site.
Maintenance & Improvement: We encourage our caretakers to be proactive. If you see a way to improve the sitewhether thats building a new storage unit or improving the signagewe want to hear your ideas. You will have a budget for small repairs and the autonomy to manage your own workshop.
Waste & Environment: You will oversee the waste management contracts ensuring that the school remains clean and that our carbon footprint is minimized through effective waste segregation.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with a background in building maintenance facilities management or a skilled trade. You must be comfortable using technology (for email and site logs) and be able to communicate effectively with staff and students alike. A sense of humor and a patient approach are big pluses in our busy school environment!
