Job Summary:
Mental Health Therapy Aides work in mental health facilities and medical centers and perform a variety of tasks related to the care nurturing treatment education socialization habilitation recovery healing and support of individuals diagnosed with a mental illness and developmental disabilities. Incumbents support instruct and assist individuals in developing the necessary skills to attain personal goals live be educated work and socialize successfully in the community. Provide behavior therapy to children and related developmental disabilities under the guidance of licensed clinicians.
Minimum Qualifications:
The NYS Department of Civil Service has developed theHiring forEmergencyLimitedPlacement (HELP) Program EffectiveApril 5th 2023. During this program the NYS Civil Service Exam requirements aresuspendedfor the Mental Health Therapy Aide SG09 title.
For consideration for this title you must meet all of the following minimum qualifications:
1: Graduated from high school or have earned a high school equivalency diploma (such as a GED)
Preferred Qualifications:
Have one (1) year of full-time direct patient care experience working in a mental health setting.
Work Days:
Schedule based on 40 hour work week. Night Shift; every other weekend; holidays
