Education & Experience

Masters of Divinity from an accredited association of Theological School and 4 units of clinical pastoral education.

One (1) year of experience as a chaplain in a hospital setting preferred. Experience may not be substituted for educational requirement.

Ecclesiastical endorsement required.

Certifications Licenses or Registration Required: Certified or eligible for Chaplaincy Certification. Must obtain certification within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides counseling and other spiritual education activities for employees students and patients.
• Supports the end-of-life care for patients by offering pastoral support and counseling to patients and families.
• Administers religious rites or ordinances; prepares and delivers spiritual care services.
• Studies interprets and teaches religious laws doctrines and/or traditions.
• Promotes ethical behavior within UMMC and provides consultation on ethical behavior.
• Documents spiritual counseling for patients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
