To perform mammography procedures utilizing x-ray imaging equipment to produce images of the breast for the screening diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases or injuries while ensuring optimum patient care and safety.Education & Experience
Graduate of a Radiologic Technology programaccredited by a mechanism acceptable to the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
CERTIFICATIONS LICENSES OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Mississippi Radiologic Technologist license or eligible. BLS required;may be obtained within the first ninety (90) days of hire. American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Registration in Mammography.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of anatomy physiology radiation physics and protection and the principles of imaging. Skill in the use of imaging equipment. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Ability to comply with radiation protection practices. Ability to alleviate patient anxiety.
Responsibilities
- Performs mammography procedures to produce images of the breast.
- Explains procedures to patient obtains and records relevant medical history selects appropriate equipment settings and positions the patient in a manner to facilitate optimum imaging results.
- Views images to determine quality and forwards for review and interpretation; maintains applicable patient documentation.
- Maintains adequate supplies and a clean work area; reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
- Assumes responsibility for patient safety; provides physical and psychological comfort to patient.
- Ensures compliance with workplace safety environmental exposure control and/or infection control practices.

(occasional-up to 20% frequent-from 21% to 50% constant-51% or more)
