High school diploma/GED plus two years of job specific experience that is deemed sufficient for allowing for precepting of employees in area. Preferred that experience obtained in related work unit at UMMC.
Completion of a pre-employment drug screen required.
Certifications Licenses or Registration required: Pharmacy Technician Certification administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or certification administered by the National Healthcare Association (NHA). Current UMMC employees who were grandfathered in by MS BOP are exempt from certification requirement. Pharmacy Technician registration with the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy.
Knowledge of procedures and standards for the labeling and dispensing of prescribed medications. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills. Ability to perform basic supervisory functions. Ability to sort check count and verify numbers.
