Kindergarten Classroom Teacher (Anticipated up to 2 positions) Needed
Location: Allen Brook School / 2026-2027 School Year
Help our youngest learners start their journey! The Champlain Valley School District is seeking two passionate dedicated Kindergarten Teachers to join the Allen Brook School team. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) 5-day-a-week position focused on creating a joyful inclusive and academically rich environment for students in their most formative school year.
As a Kindergarten teacher at Allen Brook you are more than an instructor; you are a builder of community and a spark for lifelong curiosity. Your mission is to:
Create a Culture of Belonging: Foster an environment of respect rapport and high expectations where every child feels safe to take risks.
Design Joyful Learning: Develop coherent standards-based instruction that integrates play social-emotional learning and academic rigor.
Partner with Families: Act as a primary bridge between home and school keeping families informed and engaged in their childs progress.
Collaborate for Success: Work alongside para-educators special educators and interventionists (EST IEP ELL) to ensure every student has what they need to thrive.
Core Responsibilities
Planning & Preparation: Utilize solid content knowledge and current research to design measurable diverse instructional goals.
Instructional Excellence: Use engaging questioning techniques responsive pacing and timely feedback to maximize student comprehension.
Classroom Management: Masterfully handle transitions materials and student behavior with kindness and clear expectations.
Professionalism: Maintain accurate student records participate in school-wide committees (EST/CRT) and actively pursue professional development.
Qualificiations
Education: Bachelors Degree required.
Licensure: Holds (or is eligible to hold) a Vermont Teaching License with an Early Childhood or Elementary endorsement.
Skillset: Strong foundational knowledge of CVSD and Vermont-adopted standards excellent communication skills and basic computer proficiency for academic integration.
Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to interpret assessment data (standard scores percentiles) to inform instruction.
