Position Summary:The Operations Development Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the strategy development implementation and continuous improvement of training and development programs within a Manufacturing/Depot Repair environment. This role manages a team of training professionals ensuring all training initiatives align with organizational objectives and drive operational excellence. The Operations Development Manager works collaboratively across departments to assess needs foster employee growth and support business goals through effective learning and development solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership direction and support to the Operations Development team in all aspects of training and development.
- Design implement and evaluate comprehensive training strategies tailored to manufacturing and repair operations.
- Oversee the development and standardization of instructional materials course content manuals guides and multimedia training resources.
- Ensure best practices in training delivery leveraging a blend of in-person virtual and hands-on methodologies.
- Partner with department managers HR and engineering to assess skill gaps and coordinate targeted training initiatives.
- Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness through established metrics and feedback systems; make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
- Prepare and manage the training departments annual budget; monitor expenditures and allocate resources effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies for training and development.
- Mentor and develop staff members promoting professional growth and succession planning within the team.
- Oversee the management and optimization of learning management systems (LMS) and other training technologies.
- Drive culture of learning and knowledge sharing throughout the organization.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Education Business or a related field or 8 years of Manufacturing/ Repair experience; advanced degree preferred.
- 8 years of progressive experience in training and development including at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role within a manufacturing or depot repair setting (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and guide staff to achieve organizational goals.
- Deep knowledge of adult learning principles curriculum design and training program management.
- Excellent communication interpersonal and collaboration skills; able to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite video editing tools and experience with Learning Management Systems and training technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on results and continuous improvement.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to access to controlled data and systems.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with e-learning development tools and graphic design software (e.g. Adobe Creative Cloud Camtasia Cornerstone).
- Comfort with web development and video conferencing platforms.
- Strong project management skills including budget and resource management.
