What is this career opportunity
The Department of Administrations General Services Division (GSD) is looking for a Digital Merchandising Specialist to join their small team responsible for collecting and liquidating State and Federal surplus property. Surplus property includes assets such as office equipment and furniture vehicles heavy machinery and other unique and interesting items. These items are made available to be reused by state agencies local governments schools eligible non-profit organizations and the public. This Team member provides excellent customer service and support while performing all aspects of digital sales including creating online listings collecting and processing payments title work and preparing goods for shipping. Additionally and equally as important you would provide support to your teammates in the other areas of Surplus Property this includes picking up and moving office furniture and other surplus items and assisting with set-up of public sales.

What are we looking for

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in business marketing or related field and two years experience.

  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Competencies:

Knowledge of:

  • Traditional and emerging digital marketing channels

  • Principles and best practices for online sales

  • Principles and methods of displaying promoting and selling products using online merchandising platforms etc.

Ability to:

  • Provide excellent professional customer service

  • Communicate appropriately in a variety of settings using professional judgment and discretion

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships

  • Photo stage and enhance using a variety of cameras

  • Problem solve analyze data understand trends and develop recommendations for action based on the analysis;

  • Think creatively and innovatively

  • Work independently with little supervision and as part of a Team

  • Communicate technical concepts to non-technical individuals

  • Integrate social media resources to business needs to improve customer relations agency visibility and quality of communications to both internal and external entities
