DETROIT COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL Position Substitute Nurse Department All Schools Detroit Country Day School is a private independent co-educational non-denominational preschool through grade 12 college preparatory school focused on a well-rounded liberal arts education. Position Summary The All School Substitute Nurse helps to maintain a total school health program. The Substitute Nurse works with the administration other school nurses and classroom teachers to properly direct and carry out their nursing the event the School Nurse is absent the Substitute Nurse will fulfill the responsibilities of the School Nurse. Responsibilities are listed below and may change based on the discretion of the School Director. Essential Responsibilities - Access cumulative health record keeping system (Magnus) for all pupils.
- Administers basic first aid and/or OTC/prescription medication as required using evidence-based decision making and accountability.
- Assist students with specific health/medical needs (such as diabetes food allergies ADHD etc.).
- Adhere to policies for the care of pupils who become ill or who are injured at school.
- Consults with parents regarding the health of their children.
- Keeps the administrators and other school personnel informed about problems and acquaints them with resources of the community.
- Maintains lines of communication with teachers and other school personnel in order that cooperative action will meet the needs of pupils.
- Observes the school environment for safety hazards and sanitary conditions and reports to responsible persons.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Current license to practice as a registered nurse (RN) in Michigan.
- BSN degree or higher preferred.
- Certified in CPR/AED.
- Recent experience in public health school nursing and/or pediatric nursing.
Terms of Employment - Substitute
- School-year employment based on need will vary (September through mid-June)
- Compensation is commensurate with degree and experience
