Purpose: To accurately order ensuring shelves remain abundantly stocked throughout the order/delivery cycle with minimal back stock quickly and accurately stock shelves maintaining a high quality appearance and to provide outstanding customer service.

Status: Reports to Grocery Manager


Customer Service:

  • Assist customers with product questions in prompt courteous manner
  • Knowledgeable about all products in department. Takes time to answer questions accurately
  • Helps customers place and retrieve special orders
  • Responds promptly to front end requests for prices and customer assistance
  • Keeps aisle clear and stays out of customers way while stocking
  • Responds to customer feedback forms in a timely manner


Product Knowledge:

  • Knowledgeable about most products. Continues to learn about new products. Answers questions accurately
  • Product Presentation and Quality:
  • Receives orders in accordance with established procedures
  • Ensures shelves coolers and freezers are fully stocked and rotated for freshness
  • Checks dates and rotates older stock to front
  • Ensures products have accurate labeling in accordance with local laws when applicable
  • Maintains clean and orderly department continually monitors for cleanliness


Maintenance and Conditioning:

  • Keeps stock on shelves in clean orderly condition
  • Returns equipment to appropriate location when not in use
  • Ensures maintenance of department equipment in working order. Advises manager of equipment repair or replacement need
  • Cleans floors in walk in coolers
  • Makes sure glass on cooler and freezer doors and that shelving and bins are clean
  • Removes trash and recycling promptly
  • Advises manager when new products need to be installed into POS


Safety:

  • Handles hazardous equipment carefully. Aware of presence of others when using such equipment
  • Use of proper lifting techniques
  • Mindful of potential hazards to customers and other employees and takes actions to correct hazards


Teamwork:

  • Continues to work while greeting customers in a courteous manner
  • Does own share of tasks as assigned by manager
  • Looks at whole department when prioritizing tasks and completes these tasks in a timely fashion
  • Works scheduled hours
  • Utilizes break time appropriately
  • Ensures department teamwork through trust and communication


Accountability:

  • Accept responsibility for own actions
  • Exemplifies honesty integrity and ethics



Job Specific Functions:

  • Purchasing-
  • Places all assigned orders as needed as per vendor schedule
  • Ensures minimal out of stocks and reports problems with product availability to the grocery manager
  • Ensures appropriate levels of backs stock with minimal shrink
  • Reports to grocery manager any interdepartmental transfers
  • Participates in and organizes shelves back stock coolers or freezers for quarterly inventories





Requirements

Qualifications

  • Purchasing experience helpful
  • Knowledge of retail grocery products helpful
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
  • Excellent Customer service skills required.
  • Ability to take initiative at all times ability to work in a fast paced environment while unsupervised
  • Experience with natural foods helpful
  • Excellent math skills
  • 40 hour a week requirement. Nights and weekends a possibility
  • Intermediate computer skills including proficiency with Word Excel POS etc.
  • Proficient with phone system including paging parking and transferring calls.
