Developmental Services Center (DSC) provides comprehensive services across the lifespan-from birth through adulthood-including family development case management employment residential respite and community day services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Champaign and Ford Counties. RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Family Support Specialist (FSS) at DSC you will provide prevention-focused support and resources for prenatal families and those with children - birth to three in Champaign County. The FSS promotes healthy child development and strengthens the parent-child relationship by coming alongside the caregivers to build resilience enhance protective factors and increase connections to community resources.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in psychology Early Childhood Education Human and Family Development Social Work or related field.
At least one year of experience working with families with children under the age of five.
Knowledge of early childhood development and the impact of environmental and social factors on child development and caregiver-child interactions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build partnerships with families staff and community agencies.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse cultures families experiencing risk factors and teen parents.
Bilingual Spanish-speaking preferred
HOURS:
Full-Time: 40 hours a week
WHAT WE OFFER:
$45011.20 per year
Grant-funded retention bonuses - up to 2 payments for a maximum of $1200 per fiscal year! (depending on when in the grant year you are hired)
