Job Summary

Lewis Central Community School District is looking for a PAC Technician to help support activities and events occuring in the Lewis Central Performing Arts Center (PAC). Hours will vary and will depend on events that are scheduled but will include nights and weekends.

Summary

Assists PAC Coordinator with the utilization of the Lewis Central Performing Arts Center (LCPAC) in both a technical and maintenance capacity to ensure that events held in the venue(s) are run smoothly and efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance as needed for scheduled events. Ensure technical aspects of productions are properly advanced in a timely manner and that technical rider requirements and contractual items as outlined in the final contract are met.

  • Assist with operation of light and sound for live events. Operate stage lighting and/or sound for live events and operate computerized lighting control system.

  • Provide technical assistance to the performing arts department faculty staff and student stage crews to design and/or construct sets including the rigging of flies for theatrical productions and live events or to aid contracted technical assistants. Prioritize and emphasize student-centered technical theatre education and training.

  • Provide technical assistance to the performance arts staff in the set up of all equipment required for all events at the performing arts centers as needed.

  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of all theatrical equipment and reporting maintenance needs of the theatre and surrounding performing arts center facilities to the PAC Coordinator.

  • Assist PAC Coordinator with regular maintenance on all lighting sound and rigging equipment to ensure it is safe and in functional order.

  • Assist PAC Coordinator to provide training necessary staff and students including but not limited to lighting sound rigging stage setup set construction and theatre safety.

  • Assist PAC Coordinator in the set up and preparation of the auditorium; instruct in safe use of equipment prepare sound system hang and focus lighting prepare lobby of centers and/or collaborate with student and staff lighting and sound designers and technicians to assist in these areas when needed. May be required to be present or be on call during all rehearsal and performance times for rentals.

  • Maintain inventory control of equipment and supplies that is easily accessible to performing arts faculty and staff.

  • Maintain the areas related to the Performing Arts Centers including the Black Box Theater costume room green room dressing rooms backstage technical shop makeup rooms control booths backstage storage areas and other areas as assigned.

  • Assist the theatre faculty and staff on material and set storage as well as with music departments faculty and staff on storage.

  • Monitor the use of the performing arts center.

  • Assist with custodial care of the performing arts centers.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with students co-workers administrators and school personnel professional arts and/or representatives and the general public. Interacts with community and district clients to provide services satisfy customers and resolve conflicts.

  • Help to develop establish and proactively communicate written policies and operational procedures as needed.

  • All duties may be in part with the PAC Coordinator Activities Director and other performing arts faculty and staff

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preffered

  • Associates Degree in Theatre or related field preferred

  • Experience in Theatre Production including light sound operation and equalizing set design and rigging
