Are you interested in continuing your nursing career in an innovative educational environment while making an impact on the next generation of nurses If youre looking to maximize your earning potential all while having more hands to share the workload- this position is for you!The new Mercy Hospital Fort Smith Dedicated Education Unit is an 18-bed unit focused on teaching eager and upcoming graduate nurses the fundamental skills necessary to be successful. We are looking to build a team of highly engaged nurses who have a passion for education patient care and best practices. This unit will care for Medical Telemetry patients with a 4:1 patient to nurse ratio (day shift only). Each nurse will act as a preceptor to two senior level nursing students who will take total care of the 4 patients. A clinical rotation preceptor will also be available for support/oversight of the students. Med Surg Overview:
Mercy Fort Smiths Med Surg Service Line is made up of 8 specialty units that will provide experience with patient populations with a varying range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. While you will have a home unit we cross-train our nurses between the various specialties to provide a strong foundational knowledge of all types of patient conditions comorbidities procedures etc. Whether you are a new grad nurse looking to build a strong base before launching into your future career/educational plans or an experienced nurse who enjoys variety in their everyday work Med Surg is the place for you!
Qualifications:
Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associates Degree Diploma or BSN).
Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining and maintaining a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
Certifications: Must have American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card or complete a course within probationary period. Must have ACLS and BLS or obtain within 90 days of hire.
