Job Title: Head Mens Golf Coach/ Part Time

Division: Academic Affairs Department: Department of Athletics

Reports to: Assistant Vice President for Athletics

Employment Status: Full Time Part Time Calendar Year Academic Year 12 months

JOB SUMMARY:

The Head Mens Golf Coach/Part Time is responsible for administering promoting coordinating and continually improving the mens golf program. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Athletics.

Lasell University invites applications for the 12-month part-time position of Head Mens Golf Coach. Lasell University is a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the NCAA Division III and offers 19 varsity sports (9 for men and 10 for women). Lasells 50-acre campus is located in Newton MA a community located ten miles west of Boston. The co-educational institution offering professionally oriented baccalaureate and masters degree programs has an enrollment of 1200 full-time undergraduate students.

The Athletic Department is housed in the Division of Academic Affairs.

Responsibilities: The Head Mens Golf Coach will direct all facets of a competitive NCAA Division III mens golf program with a special emphasis on recruitment/retention of appropriate student-athletes; specific tasks include but are not limited to: practice and game preparation; budgeting; academic support; scheduling of practices and games; fundraising; supervision of assistant coach(es); alumni engagement and ensuring the general welfare of the student-athlete. It is required that the candidate has a thorough and complete understanding of all NCAA Division III philosophies and regulations and will adhere to these at all times. Regular day evening and weekend hours are required.



Qualifications

Qualifications: Bachelors degree required; masters preferred. Previous coaching experience is strongly preferred. Proficient knowledge of NCAA Division III rules is required. The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to the overall education of student-athletes; a solid work ethic; the ability to work independently; strong organizational skills and the ability to interact positively and professionally within the department the campus and the community.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Fulfill all tasks attendant to the overall management of the team and do so in a manner that is consistent with the educational mission of Lasell University and embodies the educational philosophies of the Department of Athletics and the National College Athletic Association (NCAA).

  1. Promote the positive development and growth of student-athletes: academically athletically and personally; and monitor academic progress of student-athletes to ensure eligibility and progress towards a degree.

  1. Recruit and retain student-athletes for the team in accordance with Lasell University and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Guidelines.
  2. Understand and adhere to all Lasell University NCAA and Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) bylaws rules policies and protocols.

  1. Coordinate all practice and training sessions for the team and prepare the team for competition.

  1. Provide input to the Assistant Vice President for Athletics regarding team budget and manage budget effectively.

  1. Work collaboratively with all professional members of the Lasell Community; and all members of the Athletic Department including: athletic trainers Director of Athletic Communications and event management staff.

  1. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility: Assistant coaches and student team managers.

Tier Structure

Subject to the completion of a Remote Work Agreement this is a Tier 2 Hybrid/flex position primarily requiring on-campus work while allowing for some remote work as approved by the supervisor as well.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE JOB:

Minimum Education level: Bachelors Degree

Computer skills: Microsoft Office

Other Requirements of the Job:
Prior coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level; knowledge of NCAA Division III guidelines; and desire to build a strong Division III program are required qualities.

CERTIFICATION REGISTRATION OR LICENSURE REQUIRED BY THE JOB:

Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification required.
