Purpose:

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is recruiting for a Translational ADME intern for the Translational Pharmacokinetics Pharmacodynamics and Investigational Toxicology (TPPIT) department located in San Diego CA. The TPPIT department is a critical part of the Preclinical Sciences and Translational Safety organization in Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine and is committed to the delivery of high-quality clinical candidates in all Therapeutic Area discovery teams.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated student to join our Translational ADME group as an intern for the summer of 2026. The goal of this internship is to provide the opportunity for an individual to gain hands-on research experience and learn about drug metabolism in the pharmaceutical industry. The duration of the internship is 10-12 weeks and the start and end dates are flexible.

You will be responsible

  • Designing and executing in vitro assays with small molecules utilizing hepatocytes sub-cellular fractions or recombinant enzymes
  • Reviewing scientific literature and summarizing key findings to inform assay strategy
  • Analytical LC-MS/MS method development bioanalysis and troubleshooting
  • Performing data analysis and presenting key scientific findings
  • Maintaining an accurate lab notebook

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in Chemistry Biochemistry Pharmacology or other life science related field at an accredited University or College throughout the duration of the internship.
  • Previous hands-on laboratory experience.
  • Candidates must be self-motivated organized and have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled in utilization of computer programs such as Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred:

  • Understanding and/or experience with enzyme kinetics and mass spectrometry.
  • Experience handling cells and/or sub-cellular fractions.

Permanently authorized to work in the U.S. must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g. H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT OPT or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

The expected pay range for this position is between $26.50 per hour and $42.50 per hour but will be based on candidates program year discipline degree and/or -Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the -Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington up to 56 hours per calendar -Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Companys consolidated retirement plan (pension).

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

The expected pay range for this position is between $31.00 per hour and $59.00 per hour but will be based on candidates program year discipline degree and/or -Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the -Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington up to 56 hours per calendar -Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Companys consolidated retirement plan (pension).
