Join our dynamic Amsterdam hub in a pivotal role that blends Site Reliability Engineering (70%) with Cloud Engineering (30%) acting as the primary catalyst for our operational maturity. While you will operate from within the Platform team you will embed yourself deeply within our application teams not just to maintain infrastructure but to architect a reliability culture based strictly on proven SRE principles. Your mandate is to evangelize this mindset until it becomes instinctive shifting the engineering focus from simple monitoring to rigorous customer-centric SLIs and SLOs that define success across the entire value stream. By championing comprehensive observability that mirrors the actual user experience you will empower developers to take ownership of their own reliability turning SRE from a specialized role into a fundamental part of every engineers daily workflow. From optimizing Kubernetes releases to eliminating toil through Infrastructure as Code you will build the automated guardrails and cultural standards that allow our teams to follow these practices blindly ensuring our global impact is built on a foundation of unshakeable confidence and performance.

What youll be doing

• SRE Culture & SLI/SLO Implementation: Drive the adoption of SRE principles by defining and refining Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Objectives (SLOs) that directly map to the customer journey. You will transform abstract reliability goals into concrete daily engineering targets.

• Toil Elimination & Automation: Design and build cloud-native solutions that eliminate repetitive operational work. Youll develop internal tooling (primarily in Golang) to automate incident response improve MTTR/MTTA and create self-service capabilities that empower application teams to own their reliability.

• Observability Evangelism: Shift the organizations mindset from simple uptime monitoring to deep customer-centric observability. You will empower developers to see the entire value stream through the lens of the user making reliability a fundamental part of every engineers daily code contributions.

• Global Kubernetes Orchestration: Take ownership of Kubernetes lifecycle management across our hybrid environment spanning multiple cloud providers and bare metal infrastructure. As a member of the platform team you will ensure our global K8s clusters remain optimized for high-velocity releases while maintaining unwavering stability. This includes everything from capacity planning to debugging complex distributed system issues.

• Infrastructure Stewardship & Health: Move beyond reactive maintenance to proactive infrastructure health management. By implementing rigorous alerting and self-healing mechanisms you will ensure our global systemsand the value streams they supportremain robust efficient and invisible to the customer.

What youll need for that

• SRE Mindset & Culture: Deep understanding of and passion for Google SRE Book principleserror budgets SLIs/SLOs structured RCAs incident management MTTA/MTTR. You evangelize these concepts naturally and know how to make them practical for engineering teams who are new to SRE thinking. You measure success by adoption not mandates.

• Kubernetes Mastery: Deep hands-on experience orchestrating global Kubernetes clusters. You are comfortable diving deep into K8s internals using Helm for package management and debugging microservices in complex distributed environments.

• Customer-Centric Observability: You move beyond basic up/down monitoring to true observability. Experience with the Prometheus/Grafana stack is essential but more importantly you know how to use these tools to measure the customer experience and the health of the entire value stream through meaningful SLIs.

• Cloud & Toil Reduction (IaC): Strong proficiency in Cloud Engineering (GCP preferred) with a focus on eliminating manual work. You treat infrastructure as software utilizing Terraform and GitLab pipelines to build scalable self-healing systems that minimize toil.

• Engineering Core & Versatility: You are an engineer at heart. You possess strong Linux/Unix fundamentals and networking knowledge. While you can script in Bash you prefer solving problems with code (Golang or Java) to build internal tooling. familiarity with GitOps (ArgoCD) secret management (Vault) and security best practices is highly valued.

The product lines at Sensys Gatso consists of three products Flux Puls and XIlium. Flux is the part that is placed at the roadside and acts as an edge device in a distributed traffic enforcement system including both soft- and hardware. Puls is the data backend where data from roadside systems is collected analyzed and enriched. Xilium acts as the frontend where processing on violations is handled. The products are all written using modern technologies and frameworks including containerization with Docker and management using Kubernetes. Flux and Puls are mainly written in golang whereas Xilium as an enterprise software is Java based.

Each product has their own dedicated product manager and together they form the foundation of a strong product driven development team.
