Description
Working under the direction of the Optical Manager and supervision of the Opticians the Optical Sales Associate is primarily responsible for greeting patients and assisting patients in the selection of glasses frames. Other duties include communicating with patients regarding glasses order status dispensing glasses to patients and ensuring they are adjusted properly to fit the patients face collecting and entering payments monitoring voicemails and maintaining stock displays and inventory.
Responsibilities:
Assist patients with optical needs and orders
- Measure patients pupillary distance and other optical measurements using supplied measuring devices
- Assist patient with selecting frames; measure patients for size of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription
- Recommend specific lenses lens coatings and frames to suit patient needs
- Instruct patients on how to care for and handle their eyeglasses and sunglasses
Maintain accurate optical records and inventory
- Maintain records of patient prescriptions work orders and payments
- Perform administrative duties such as tracking inventory and sales and performing simple bookkeeping
- Maintain and track optical inventory and products
- Arrange maintain and stock optical displays
Provide excellent customer service
- Greet each patient that enters the Optical Shop in a welcoming professional and cheerful manner
- Act as a first point of contact for patients with questions or concerns
- Effectively communicate patient needs and desires to Opticians to ensure a seamless patient experience
- Foster positive relationships with patients
- Assess patient needs meet quality standards for services and evaluate and ensure patient satisfaction
- Place a high value on excellence in personal and departmental performance
Meet agency participatory expectation
- Adhere to all agency and departmental policies and procedures
- Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested
- Adhere to the highest principles of patient and client confidentiality following HIPAA guidelines
- Adhere to established safety policies procedures and precautions
- Attend all required meetings in-services and professional trainings
Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years experience in a retail establishment
- Knowledge of principles and methods for showing promoting and selling products preferred
- Demonstrated computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with Opticians and the Office Manager of Optometry
- Ability to respond constructively to pressure situations and time limits
- Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals required
- Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds perspectives and life experiences. This includes engaging constructively with colleagues patients clients and vendors in a manner that reflects professionalism empathy and cultural awareness without regard to race color national origin sex gender identity sexual orientation religion age disability or other protected characteristics as defined by applicable law.

- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems including managing files and records and effective and detailed documentation preferred
