We are expanding our Industrial Hygiene team and need a talented professional to join our global field team to support our APAC region. Are you a passionate leader who is practical business focused and have strong skills in building trust In this role you will assess industrial hygiene risk evaluate the control effectiveness and educate stakeholders on industrial hygiene programs risks and impacts. As the industrial hygiene subject matter expert to the field you will support field-based projects including designing exposure monitoring strategies. During and after impactful incidents you will provide technical support for response post incident investigation and risk management. You will work collaboratively across matrixed organizations with Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Field Operations WHS Program Managers Operations and Legal. Adaptability persistence and ability to influence are essential to success in this role. This role requires travel within APAC (at least 25% of time).
Key job responsibilities
Serve as cross-functional resource for industrial hygiene and provide expert level exposure assessment support to field operations
Research background and historical multi-source information specific to topical areas using both internal data sources as well as with being actively aware of external trends
Apply industrial hygiene principles into complex problems using modeling data and other methods to eliminate or reduce risk of injury/illness
Support industrial hygiene requests from operations including responding to incidents
Provide support in incident investigations and action plan management related to industrial hygiene exposures
Provide support to develop recommended exposure control strategies
Lead or be involved in field-based projects addressing industrial hygiene risks
Communicate effectively with operations WHS leadership legal procurement and finance
Provide industrial hygiene support for new facilities and projects as part of design review
Maintain subject matter expertise across the full range of industrial hygiene hazards
About the team
Worldwide Industrial Hygiene (WWIH) supports all Worldwide Amazon Stores (WWAS) business units (BUs) and regions focusing on physical chemical and biological health hazards that cause acute and long-term illnesses. Health hazards that impact associates: mold noise heat cold communicable disease ionizing radiation (x-rays) non-ionizing radiation (UV EMF lasers) chemicals (ASINs janitorial manufacturing) pharmaceuticals indoor/outdoor air quality illumination blood borne pathogen and legionella. The team is comprised professionals that own specific hazard types (e.g. heat noise) and control systems (e.g. ventilation). As well as professionals that build mechanisms to ensure conformance to industrial hygiene programs (e.g. training data management systems). The Field team provides tactical support to WHS Field and Operations. Individuals work alone and collaboratively across all verticals depending on the business need. WWIH partners with the business to define risk tolerance controls and guide the business on compromises between competing priorities.
- 6 years of compliance audit or risk management experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Bachelors degree or BS degree
- Masters degree or Masters degree
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience with Six Sigma tools and Lean techniques
- CIH
