This is an on-site position at Reston headquarters and Reston Association Pool sites. Work is performed in an outdoor environment near and around recreational water. Your seasonal position may require travel to multiple Reston Association sites based on the duties required.

Position Overview

As the communitys steward RA is responsible for maintaining the quality of life in Reston chiefly by caring for and administering the communitys most precious asset - its real property.

At RA our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are actively seeking Lifeguards to join our Aquatics team! The primary function of this position is to ensure a safe clean and welcoming pool environment for all guests through vigilant surveillance emergency response and exceptional customer service.

Lifeguards are thesafety-minded monitorsof the pool environment preventing injuries and incidents through effective surveillance and quick action. They are also the public face of Reston Aquatics- friendly knowledgeable and committed to exceeding guest expectations. From scanning passes to tidying the facility lifeguards help create a positive experience for every visitor.

Key responsibilities include maintaining a hazard-free environment enforcing facility policies fairly and consistently and participating in regular practice of rescue skills and safety knowledge. Lifeguards provide effective surveillance and back-up coverage in rotation assist with facility admissions and retail sales (at select locations) offer information to guests perform routine cleaning complete reports and forms and assist with emergency situations lifeguards provide care in accordance with their training and certifications.

Candidates must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification (provided upon hire) and are expected to consistently demonstrate the skills outlined in their certification adhere to all standards and protocols associated with it and maintain its validity through ongoing compliance and renewal as required.

This position offers 10-20 hours per week from May September with evening and weekend shifts as required to support department operations and special events. These hours depend on operational needs and are subject to change.

Hourly wage will be based on the candidates experience education and overall fit for the role.

• Physical ability to move up to 50 lbs hear whistle alerts from 50 yards see hand gestures from 25 yards. (Corrective eyewear and assistance devices are permitted)
• Current certificationsin:
  • American Red CrossLifeguarding (training provided upon initial hire)

*Certifications obtained through Reston Association will be reimbursed once the course and hiring process are both completed.
