Who we are:
Scripture Union Scotland is a national charity with around 140 staff and over 2500 volunteers. Our vision is to see every childand young person of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus.
Our centres regularly host school groups participating in residential experiences youth groups enjoying weekend breaks and a variety of SU Holidays. Making the most of the stunning opportunities that Scotlands countryside affords we use outdoor activities to build relationships with young people enabling them to have fun develop new skills and work together.
We currently have a vacancy for a Weekend Cook to be based at our Alltnacriche Centre near Aviemore in the heart of the Cairngorms.
Purpose:
Working as part of the Alltnacriche team you will assist the Centre team in fulfilling all catering requirements of the Centre including preparation cooking and baking and service for weekend groups and various meetings/ addition the role will include cleaning and maintaining kitchens to a high standard and induction of self-catered groups.
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist with delivering busy catering preparation and service sessions engaging with young people in the dining facilities
- To support the team with certain aspects of the catering function for catered groups
- To assist with the preparation of kitchens for self-catering groups.
- To comply with food safety legislation and internal policies thereby ensuring high standards of cleanliness and equipment of all kitchens
- Occasionally assisting other departments as required
Who we are looking for:
We are seeking applicants who enjoy working alongside others and who are committed to providing a high standard of guest service. Applicants for this post should have experience in catering and be able to work on their own initiative. You will most likely have undergone some catering training hold food hygiene certification and have worked in the hospitality industry. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
The successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure.
