This is a full-time non-exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and aligned with the organizations salary structure and budget.
Summary of the Job:
The Clothing Donation Attendant plays a key frontline role in supporting the mission of The Samaritan Inn by carefully evaluating sorting and merchandising donations of clothing as directed by store management. This position ensures quality control safe handling and effective placement of clothes to the sales floor while providing excellent service to clientele when applicable. Working as part of a dynamic team the Clothing Donation Attendant may also provide customer experience support when called upon by store management.
Essential Functions:
Sort clothing donations into appropriate categories (sellable or salvage) and sub-categories (womens mens children accessories).
Merchandise quality donations (sellable) to sales floor and dispose of damaged or unsellable goods (salvage) appropriately.
Ensure efficient processing of clothing directly to the sales floor including organization tagging displaying rotating and disposing of items per store standards.
Monitor clothing inventory and supply levels managing stock to support sales goals and customer satisfaction.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of backroom workspace areas; report any unsafe conditions.
Follow all safety regulations and procedures.
Provide courteous professional customer service when merchandising on the sales floor.
Attend team meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience:
Basic communication reasoning and math skills.
1-3 years of experience working with clothing in a retail or warehouse setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Experience with donation sorting warehouse retail or customer service work.
Familiarity with clothes handling or logistics in a nonprofit or resale environment.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions as needed to transport donations indoors for sorting.
Weekend and occasional holiday work depending on donation and delivery schedules.
