Graduate Engineer Trainee Instrumentation & Controls / Electrical

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) from the Instrumentation & Controls Engineering stream to join our dynamic engineering team. This is an entry-level role designed for recent graduates who are eager to begin their professional journey in industrial automation instrumentation and control systems.

As a GET you will receive on-the-job training and mentorship from senior engineers. You will gain hands-on exposure to PLC programming SCADA systems instrumentation panel design documentation and cross-functional collaboration across water and wastewater treatment projects.

Key Responsibilities

Training & Learning

  • Participate in structured technical training programs on PLC HMI/SCADA systems and field instrumentation.
  • Learn about industrial automation tools such as Studio 5000 TIA Portal WinCC and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Understand project workflows documentation standards and control philosophies.
  • Support in preparation of engineering documents such as I/O lists wiring diagrams and panel layouts.

Project Support

  • Assist senior engineers in developing PLC logic and HMI screens.
  • Involve in testing and validation of control panels and instrumentation setup.
  • Learn to read and interpret P&IDs data sheets and electrical schematics.
  • Support on-site activities such as FAT SAT and commissioning under guidance.

Instrumentation & Controls

  • Observe and assist in the selection and calibration of instruments like flow pressure level and pH sensors.
  • Learn about communication protocols such as Modbus Profibus and OPC.
  • Support troubleshooting and issue resolution related to instrumentation and control panels.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with mechanical electrical and process teams to understand complete system integration.
  • Participate in team meetings and reviews with international teams.
  • Contribute to maintaining project documentation and reports.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelors degree (B.E./.) in Instrumentation & Control Engineering or Electrical Engineering (2023/2024 or recent pass-out).
  • Basic knowledge of PLC/HMI/SCADA systems and instrumentation fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with P&ID diagrams sensors and control system architecture.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Good communication skills in English and a collaborative mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and eagerness to take initiative.

Good to Have

  • Internship or project experience in industrial automation or instrumentation.
  • Exposure to tools like TIA Portal Studio 5000 AutoCAD or any simulation software.
  • Basic understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes.
  • Awareness of safety and industry standards related to instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of LT/HT Electrical Panels and ability to read or prepare basic electrical drawings using AutoCAD will be an added advantage.

This role requires effective management of tasks and priorities along with strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication in English is essential.
