Position Overview
The PCU/MSDU Registered Nurse will provide intermediate-level nursing care to adult patients requiring closer monitoring and more complex interventions than a general medical-surgical unit. This role supports patients transitioning from critical care as well as those admitted from the Emergency Department PACU and inpatient units.
Unit Overview
This is a 26-bed Intermediate Care / Step-Down Unit delivering evidence-based multidisciplinary care to adult acute-care patients. All patients are on continuous telemetry and pulse oximetry. The unit manages patients requiring airway support BiPAP arterial lines central lines and titratable IV medication infusions. Nurses must be adaptable vigilant and skilled in managing varying levels of patient acuity.
Staffing & Scheduling
Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Local Candidates: Must reside outside a 75-mile radius
Experience & Licensing Requirements
Minimum Experience: 1 year of PCU Step-Down or equivalent acute care experience
NY State RN License: Required and must be in hand (no exceptions)
