We are currently seeking a Geomatics Project Lead to join our team based out of our Edmonton or Whitecourt office. This is a full-time permanent position that is focused on assessing and reporting on the efficiency of deliverables of GIS remote sensing and 3D modeling projects to Woodlands North Management and watercourse crossing clients leveraging advanced geospatial technologies and environmental engineering expertise. Project work is remote team based safety driven and is completed for the energy and forest sectors throughout the province.

Position Responsibilities
- Utilize drones and RPAS systems to create point clouds and process 3D LiDAR data for advanced analysis and modeling of watercourse crossings and environmental features.
- Conduct predictive surface water analysis and integrate field data with Q50 flow data outputs into designs and flow graphs.
- Process LiDAR data filter noise mesh terrain and surfaces and create detailed 3D models for watercourse crossings bridge inventories and habitat suitability indexing.
- Develop preliminary drawings and surfaces for engineering approval and on-site stakeout during construction activities including minimum culvert sizing and RIPRAP design.
- Perform advanced remote sensing and geospatial analysis using tools such as ArcGIS QGIS Google Earth Engine and Sentinel Hub to support ecological assessments.
- Lead GIS and drafting RFP and business development initiatives focused on environmental restoration and watercourse management.
- Review and approve time and project work of personnel under your supervision.
- Provide efficient and reliable service through regular business hours and off hours for emergencies and urgent priorities as required.
- Mentor train and develop personnel under your supervision in geospatial tools 3D modeling and environmental analysis.
- Initiate develop and execute continuous improvement initiatives and best practices in geospatial and environmental project workflows.
Position Requirements and Qualifications
- University Degree or technical diploma is required in Environmental Earth Science Forestry Biology Engineering Computer Science Geomatics or Surveying;
- 5 or more years of relevant experience;
- Drafting or Computer-Aided Design experience is seen as an asset;
- Proficient in geographic and cartographic concepts common GIS desktop and web-based spatial analysis tools and software such as ArcGIS QGIS Google Earth Engine FME and PostGIS and common programming scripting languages such as HTML CSS and JavaScript Python and SQL;
- Proficient in both front-end and back-end design and design and development of automated processes for work on mapping applications;
- Ability to lead by example and motivate a team;
- Ability to demonstrate a safety and customer service focus;
- Ability to innovate and manage change;
- Strong analytical and reporting skills;
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 Office Suite SharePoint PDF programs and online project management tracking software.
