Job Summary

Community Legal Aid (CLA) and its affiliate Central West Justice Center (CWJC) are seeking law students and recent graduates who are interested in applying for Skadden Equal Justice Works Justice Catalyst or other post-graduate fellowships to begin in the fall of 2027.

CLA and CWJC are the non-profit civil legal aid programs serving the low-income and elderly residents of central and western Massachusetts. CLA and CWJC have a combined staff of over 190 talented dedicated people working out of six offices. Through our effective advocacy in more than 8700 cases each year some of the most vulnerable residents of our region obtain safe and stable housing; get needed services in school; access unemployment disability and other benefits to stabilize their income; break free from abuse and exploitation; and obtain humanitarian-based immigration relief. The vast majority of our clients have household incomes that fall below 125% of the federal poverty addition to direct legal representation we provide community legal education to service providers community groups and private attorneys and operate the regions largest pro bono program for private attorney volunteers. With full service offices located in Worcester Springfield Northampton Pittsfield Greenfield and Fitchburg (as well as multiple outreach offices located across central and western Massachusetts) CLA and CWJC offer exciting opportunities for individuals interested in creating fellowship projects in the areas of migrant and seasonal farmworker law family law immigration law public benefits law elder law employment law education law racial justice law re-entry services housing law or other innovative practice areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • JD anticipated in May 2027.
  • Experience working or interning in public interest law is required; experience in the project focus area a plus.
