Job title: Director of OR/PACU/Sterile Processing
Schedule: Full-time 80 hours per pay period; Monday - Friday
Position Summary:
The Director of OR/PACU/Sterile Processing position is responsible for planning organizing directing coordinating and evaluating the activities relating to sterile processing perioperative or nursing practice for all patients aged newborn pediatric adolescent adult and geriatric and integrating these activities into the overall care delivery system.
Position Responsibilities:
- Evaluate quality of care delivered utilizing current standards of care as quality measure.
- Evaluate and facilitate the educational and training needs of the department staff and provide opportunities for staff development to promote quality perioperative cares as well as personal and professional growth.
- Perform periodic review of charts to monitor for completion and for proper changes.
- Review and oversee the development of policies and procedures.
- Acknowledge the needs of patients and families community staff and physician as pertains to surgery and facilitates measures/process to meet needs.
- Ensure compliance with federal state and the Joint Commission regulations related to the OR & Sterile Processing Departments.
- Develop a staffing plan for OR & Sterile Processing that provides competent and timely care to all patients.
- Develop and maintain an orientation program with focus on the employees skills and previous experience.
- Participate in and/or conduct appropriate meetings in-service and committees.
- Develop an effective system of staff evaluation.
- Participate in determination of OR department budget capital and operating.
- Evaluate efficiency/productivity with ability to explain budget variances and improvement plans.
- Maintain an effective communication system.
- Perform leadership rounding with staff and patients per established guidelines.
- Inform VP/CNO of department activities areas of concern and unusual events.
- Responsible for collaborating with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services to meet MBMCs Mission Vision Values and Standards.
- Assist with/perform infections control surveillance and communicates findings to the OR staff and ICP.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
Position Requirements:
- Four-year degree in nursing required.
- Must hold and maintain Wisconsin Registered Nursing license.
- ACLS (or obtain within 2 years of hire).
- BLS (or obtain with in 1 year of hire).
- 1 years related work experience required. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Intermediate to expert proficiency with computers is required.
- Requires assessment evaluation and decision-making skills.
- Must possess exceptional clinical skills.
- Strong quantitative and analytical competency.
- Self-starter with excellent compassion interpersonal communication oral and written communication and problem-solving skills.
