Staff Software Engineer (Full Stack) Forward Engineering

This role is ideal for a senior fullstack engineer who thrives in fastpaced environments adopts AI coding tools to accelerate development and enjoys partnering closely with AI Engineers and business stakeholders to bring new interaction models to life.

About the Role

As a Staff FullStack Engineer you will translate complex business challenges into intuitive efficient applications that integrate seamlessly with evolving AI systems. Youll shape how TR builds software in an era where human users and AI agents collaborate through adaptive goaldriven interfaces.

What Youll Do

• Develop fullstack applications designed around agentcentric workflows enabling smooth humanAI collaboration through adaptive UIs and intelligent backend services.

• Create modular cloudnative APIs that support agent context state management and structured tool invocation across distributed AI systems.

• Work closely with AI Engineers to design UI API and servicelayer experiences that expose agent capabilities to internal users and developers.

• Use modern frontend and backend tech (React/ Vue/Nuxt Angular Python/FastAPI Java/) while upholding best practices in API design state management CI/CD testing performance and observability.

• Build quick exploratory prototypes to test new interaction models learn from user feedback and influence product direction.

• Lead architectural decisions mentor engineers elevate engineering quality and drive best practices across experimentation and modular design.

• Partner with business units product teams AI Engineers and SMEs to cocreate solutions shape priorities and document architectures for broader adoption.

About You Required Skills & Experience

• 8 years fullstack engineering experience with ownership of production applications and APIs.
• Deep expertise in at least one modern frontend and backend stack.
• Ability to quickly learn new tools and adapt engineering patterns for AIdriven development.
• Familiarity with AIpowered systems (APIs data flows model integration) and eagerness to partner with AI Engineers.
• Experience building systems in cloudnative environments (AWS Azure or GCP) and using Docker/Kubernetes.
• Proven leadership in driving technical initiatives and guiding multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication product intuition and comfort working in fastmoving exploratory environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using AI coding tools (Cursor Cline Claude Code GitHub Copilot) to accelerate understanding design and implementation across large codebases.
• Ability to leverage AI agents to scale development (parallelizing tasks accelerating code review fast iteration from feedback).
• Demonstrated 0to1 prototyping ability with a startuplike mindset.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City San Francisco Los Angeles and/or Irvine CA; McLean VA; Washington DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $146800 USD - $272600 USD. For any eligible US locations unless otherwise noted the base compensation range for this role is $127400 USD - $236600 USD. For Ontario Canada the base compensation range for this role is $148800 CAD - $198800 CAD. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individuals knowledge skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
