Duties And Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of this position is to support the minor in Italian Studies at John Carroll University by delivering courses in the three-semester introductory sequence of Italian language and culture and one course per semester that contributes to JCUs Integrative Core Curriculum (taught in English) on Italian literature culture and society on topics such as Italy today Dantes Divine Comedy or Italian Culture through Arts and Music. Other expectations include active participation in the life of the department and university including attendance at departmental and university meetings workshops etc.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Italian or a closely related field. The degree must be in hand by August 2026. Experience teaching Italian language and culture. Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education. Native or near-native fluency in Italian and English.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching or developing Core Curriculum or general education courses. Familiarity with high-impact pedagogies such as technology-enhanced learning.
