- Responsibilities and clinical scope: As a PACU Registered Nurse you will monitor postoperative patients through the recovery phase continuously assessing airway status breathing circulation pain and consciousness. You will manage catheter and IV lines adjust medications per orders and respond rapidly to clinical changes applying evidence-based protocols to stabilize patients. Youll conduct initial and ongoing assessments document accurately in the electronic health record and communicate critical information to anesthesia teams surgeons and floor staff. Your role includes preparing patients for discharge from PACU coordinating with inpatient units or home care as appropriate providing patient and family education and ensuring safe handoffs to the next care team.
