Job Summary

The Ray School is seeking candidates for two types of Inclusion Educational Assistants (IEAs):

1:1 Inclusion Education Assistant: This role requires patience a positive attitude organization and flexibility to provide behavioral academic and/or social support to a specific child in the classroom environment. Applicants should have a desire tohelp students develop independence towards individual goals. You will also work closely with case managers and classroom teachers on a regular basis.

Classroom Inclusion Education Assistants:Thisrole supports students in the general classroom ingrades K-5. Candidates should enjoy working with children have a high level of positive energy a sense of humor flexibility and the ability to work with colleagues and students in our school. This position may involve working with individual or small groups of children while supporting the classroom teacher with academics social and behavioral needs.

Both are full-time positions Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 2:45 pm daily. Positions start immediately open until filled.

These positions are governed by theHSS/NEA-NH Union Agreement.

These are school year positions with an hourly range of $19.05 to $24.99 depending on education and experience.

POSITION TITLE: INCLUSION EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT

General Purpose:

Support teaching staff in achieving learning objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve appropriate levels of instruction.

Reports to:

Building Administrator or designee

Supervises:

N/A

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties of this position may include some or all of the following:

  • Work with students within the classroom environment or other environments within the school setting to assist in completion of lessons and implement goals and objectives.
  • Assist in the delivery of instruction services outlined in the Individual Education Plan/504 Plan and further interpreted and supervised by the respective special education teacher or special education administrator.
  • Provide individual and/or small group instructional support as directed by certified staff.
  • Provide other services specifically outlined in the students Individual Education Plan/504 Plan.
  • Assist substitutes with teachers sub plans class lists and attendance.
  • Participate in scheduled school meetings as requested by administration or certified staff.
  • Assist teacher(s) in maintaining appropriate classroom behavior or monitoring specific behavior management plans.
  • Alert teacher(s) to any concerns about students.
  • Serve as a resource person about student needs and progress as requested by certified staff members.
  • Accompany students on field trips.
  • Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills assemblies and break periods.
  • Guide independent study enrichment work and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
  • Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students their needs interests and abilities.
  • Assist with supervisory duties including but not limited to recess lunch and/or bus. (
  • Participate in in-service programs as assigned.
  • Recognize that student progress and records are confidential and must be discussed only with appropriate school personnel.
  • Recognize that all communication with parents and other third parties regarding students shall not be the responsibility of the assistant and shall be conducted only by the certified staff.
  • Perform other duties and accept responsibilities as assigned.
  • Must comply with all SAU 70 District policies and building/department rules procedures practices and objectives.

Evaluation: Evaluation will be completed by the Building Administrator or designee. Evaluation will be based on professional performance and effectiveness in carrying out the responsibilities of the position as defined.

  • At-will; non exempt

  • Days/hours determined by letter of intent

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred

Necessary Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of general concepts of child growth and development
  2. Knowledge of specific subject area content as required in the job assignment
  3. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instruction
  4. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with students and staff

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

NH Para-educator certification preferred.

The physical demands of an employee in an education support role are moderate. The employee is occasionally required to do some lifting. Employee is typically able to sit and stand as needed.
