The Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) Engineering organization is a multi-disciplinary technology team established to rapidly address the needs of targeted government and international customers with specific solutions that have the potential to scale. ALG Engineering leads the development and delivery of targeted and scalable solutions for custom space and terrestrial applications. ALG collaborates closely with Amazon Leo to leverage the constellation of advance satellites to provide seamless and efficient communication capabilities to meet the needs of our customers. As part of ALG this role offers the opportunity to shape the future of secure space-based connectivity and contribute to high-stakes mission-critical programs with real-world impact. As a Software Development Manager for Software Integration & Test (I&T) you will lead a team responsible for the software infrastructure and tooling that integrates satellite and ground systems into a cohesive mission-ready capability. Unlike roles focused on isolated subsystems this position requires end-to-end systems thinkingspanning requirements flow-down interface design integration architecture testing and deployment automation.

Youll work in a fast-paced high-impact environment tackling complex challenges in connecting satellite communications subsystems at scale. This role requires expertise in building integration frameworks CI/CD pipelines and automation infrastructure with proficiency in Python and C. Youll collaborate closely with hardware firmware security systems and product teams to ensure all components work together reliably for government customers.

Key job responsibilities
Define and execute the technical vision for software integrations and infrastructure connecting satellite and ground systems.
Hire develop and lead a high-performing team of software engineers fostering a culture of innovation collaboration and technical excellence.
Own the software integration lifecyclefrom architecture through implementation automation and deployment.
Translate system-level requirements into integration strategies; ensure requirements flow down correctly across subsystem boundaries.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines integration environments and automation frameworks that enable rapid reliable system integration.
Collaborate across hardware firmware software and systems engineering teams to resolve integration challenges and ensure interoperability.
Establish and enforce best practices for coding standards source control automated builds and integration verification.
Lead technical and program reviews ensuring integration solutions align with customer mission needs and schedule constraints.
Partner with product program and business leaders to define priorities manage trade-offs and drive execution.
Mentor engineers providing technical guidance career development support and fostering an inclusive high-performance engineering culture.
Provide Software Integration and Test leadership to one or more of the following: the satellite bus software RF payload software optical payloads software custom ground terminals software or custom user terminals software.
Specify and develop end-to-end payload or sub-system integration and test plans and procedures to validate performance against customer and/or partner requirements
Create test algorithms test scripts automation and calibration routines for test systems
Analyze software test data and engage with cross functionally with teammates partners suppliers or customers to evaluate the product performance and provide proactive feedback on potential improvements.
Architect design and validate test software for support equipment necessary to enable test execution and requirements verification
Prepare reports documenting test results test coverage performance results and other key performance indicator (KPI) metrics and communicate issues effectively with developers and managers
Effectively manage and track to closure test anomalies defects and bugs

Security Clearance : This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance of TS/SCI.

- Bachelors degree or above in Computer Science Computer Engineering Systems Engineering Electrical Engineering or other related discipline
- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 10 years of Software Engineer Software Developer or related occupational experience
- Bachelors degree or a Masters degree and experience with any programming language such as Python Java C
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development life cycle including agile methodologies coding standards code reviews source management build processes testing and operations
- Experience in technical product management program management or engineering
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
- 5 years of RF and Network test equipment associated with SATCOM communications experience

- 5 years of engineering team management experience
- Experience communicating with users other technical teams and management to collect requirements describe software product features and technical designs
- Experience leading the design development and deployment of business software at scale or recent hands-on technology infrastructure network compute storage and virtualization experience
- Knowledge of network design protocols and troubleshooting
- Knowledge of the tools of the trade including a variety of modern programming languages (Rust Java C/C) and a solid understanding of the Linux operating system
- Masters degree or above in computer science computer engineering or related field or Bachelors degree
- Can work proactively and independently meet deadlines and deliver on projects and tasks
- Experience that includes strong analytical skills attention to detail and effective communication abilities
- Experience designing and planning test conditions test scripts and test data sets to ensure appropriate and adequate coverage and control
- 5 years of Space Vehicle/Satellite Operations Space Communications or related industry experience
- Experience in system design
- Experience in working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
