Job Summary
Caseworker - Santa Rosa CA
Your opportunity to truly make a difference in the lives of vulnerable and under-served children and their families is here! As a Caseworker you will play an important role in the lives of foster youth by building a relationship with children developing a treatment plan and coordinate the provision of services to children and their families. This is a community-based role with travel throughout Sonoma County where work is conducted in foster homes schools libraries and public spaces.
About Alternative Family Services
Alternative Family Services is a Foster Family Adoption and Mental Health Agency that has been serving abused and neglected children in our community since 1973. Our mission is to support vulnerable children and families in need of stability safety and well-being in communities. We provide a wide range of foster adoption mental health and transition-aged youth services in English and Spanish. We have eight locations throughout the Bay Area and 200 employees. Responsibilities
- Train and supervise resources parents (foster parents)
- Oversee the placement of youth in foster homes through regular visits in homes and meeting individually with the child
- Develop and update a treatment plan for each child on a quarterly basis
- Act as a liaison between AFS and other community-based services needed by the foster child
- Maintain current case notes and other documentation
- Identify and utilize community resources
- Crisis intervention and management
- Be available for emergencies with assigned caseload
- Transport clients when necessary using a personal vehicle in safe working order
Qualifications
- Masters Degreein Social Work or related field that meets educational requirements as required by California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 22; or be granted an exception by California Community Care Licensing (CCL)
- English-Spanish bilingual skills are preferred for this role
- 1-2 years experience working with children and families is preferable
- Ability to obtain fingerprint and government required background clearances
- Ability to work successfully and collaboratively in complex family systems
- Proven track record of working successfully with diverse cultural populations
Driving Requirements
This role involves working directly in the community and visiting foster homes throughout the Sonoma County. Therefore it is essential that candidates possess a valid California drivers license and maintain valid automobile insurance that includes their name as an insured driver on the policy at all times. The role may also require transporting clients using a personal vehicle in safe working order.

- Additional pay differential offered for CA Clinical Licensure (MFT LCSW) of $3000/annually
- Additional language differential offered for Spanish language fluency of $2500/year (must be fluent)
