Test Director Engineer
Location: Gulf Coast (Mobile AL / Pascagoula MS)
Clearance: Active Secret required
Position Overview
Sayres Defense is seeking a Test Director to provide waterfront Test and Activation/Trials Readiness oversight in support of PMS 325 and the Program Managers Representative (PMR) at Supervisor of Shipbuilding (SUPSHIP) Gulf Coast.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitors the shipbuilders performance pertaining to schedule in all areas of stage 2 -7 HM&E testing sea trials and DD 250 delivery
- Monitor shipbuilder Test and Activation progress against the Test Plan Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and test burn down leading to Sea Trials
- Review specific CDRL submissions to determine completeness accuracy applicability and timeliness of delivered data
- Assess the shipbuilders test procedures attend test call-outs as required and validate test completions
- Develop and analyze test completion metrics and report status to the program office and SUPSHIP
- Support builders trials mock INSURV and acceptance trials
- Work with deck leads to prepare for trials to include progressing status of readiness and development of readiness review briefings (Stoplight chart development) for leadership and INSURV
- Highlight any trials readiness issues for leadership attention and work with the shipbuilder to expedite resolution and correction of impediments to achieving the ship delivery in accordance with contractual schedules.
- Track schedule impacts delay claims and contract performance risks
- Provide weekly/quarterly status reports and impact assessments
Required Qualifications
- Broad knowledge of U.S. Navy shipbuilding methods Test and Activation Sea Trials and waterfront operations
- Experience with hull mechanical & electrical (HM&E) systems marine machinery piping electrical and electronic systems
- Knowledge of Navy/DoD shipbuilding regulations contracts and specifications
- Strong analytical ability to assess schedule and trials readiness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across Government and contractor stakeholders
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Active Secret clearance
Work Environment
- This position requires daily presence in a shipyard industrial environment including climbing confined spaces heights and exposure to heavy machinery and extreme weather conditions.
- Participation in sea trials and CONUS travel is required.
