Job Summary

Summer Horticultural Student

Term of Employment: Monday to Friday 7:00am 3:00pm (hours could vary) May 4 202 6 to September 4 202 6 .

$ 26.58 per hour (40 hour/week)

Reporting to the Facilities Operations Supervisors you will work at various Board sites across the Hamilton-Wentworth District maintaining gardens and landscaped areas. This will include but is not limited to:

  • Weeding trimming and watering plants .

  • Grounds clean up such as collecting garbage .

  • Other duties as assigned.

* The applicant must have a valid Class G drivers license and be able to drive a Board vehicle . Successful candidates will be responsible for the transportation of tools and materials to designated locations.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous landscaping experience .

  • Hold a Class G-class drivers license.

  • Able to meet the physical demands of this position (lifting heavy materials standing kneeling pushing pulling twisting movements).

  • Proficient English written oral and reading communication skills.

  • Preference given to individuals who are currently working towards a diploma in horticultural from a recognized post-secondary institution .
