Contract: 12-month administrative contract
Position Summary
The Principal of Benton Junior High School serves as the instructional leader and chief administrator of the campus responsible for fostering a safe supportive and high-achieving learning environment for all students. The Principal provides visionary leadership in curriculum and instruction student achievement staff development school culture operations and community engagement in alignment with district goals and state standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
Lead the development implementation and evaluation of high-quality instructional programs aligned with state standards and district goals.
Use data to monitor student progress close achievement gaps and guide continuous school improvement.
Support effective teaching practices through classroom observations feedback coaching and professional development.
School Climate & Student Support
Promote a positive inclusive and safe school culture that supports student engagement behavior and well-being.
Implement and enforce student discipline policies in a fair and consistent manner.
Collaborate with counselors special education staff and support personnel to meet the diverse needs of students.
Staff Leadership & Development
Recruit hire supervise and evaluate faculty and staff in accordance with district policies.
Foster a collaborative professional culture focused on growth accountability and continuous improvement.
Facilitate ongoing professional learning opportunities for teachers and staff.
Operations & Management
Oversee daily school operations including scheduling supervision facilities use and safety procedures.
Manage the school budget and ensure responsible use of resources.
Ensure compliance with district policies state and federal regulations and accreditation requirements.
Family & Community Engagement
Build strong partnerships with parents families and community stakeholders.
Communicate effectively and transparently with students staff parents and district leadership.
Represent the school positively within the district and community.
Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement the school improvement plan aligned with district priorities.
Lead school committees and participate in district leadership initiatives.
Respond effectively to emerging challenges and support continuous organizational growth.
Qualifications
Required:
Valid Arkansas Administrator Licensure (or eligibility to obtain).
Masters degree or higher in Educational Leadership Administration or a related field.
Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in education including classroom teaching.
Demonstrated leadership experience in a middle school/junior high setting preferred.
Preferred:
Proven experience improving student achievement and school culture.
Strong background in instructional leadership and data-driven decision-making.
Experience with school improvement planning and staff development.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Strong leadership organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lead change build trust and foster a collaborative school culture.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced educational environment.
Commitment to equity student success and continuous improvement.
Working Conditions
Full-time administrative position with occasional evening and weekend commitments for school and community events.
Works in an office and school environment; may require extended hours during peak times.
