Job Summary:

The Institute on Aging is seeking a research specialist that will work closely with investigators on the MIDUS (Midlife in the United States) project. MIDUS is a national longitudinal research study that investigates the human aging process by measuring protein biomarkers expressed by the body administering physical and psychological tests and determining socioeconomic factors of all participants. This research position is within the Biological Core which coordinates the shipment of human samples across multiple sites and runs immunoassays in-house to test hormone immune and hematological measures that impact overall health.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Operates cleans and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
  • Performs literature reviews and writes reports
  • Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
  • Participates in the development interpretation and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • Reviews analyzes and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences

Compensation:

The starting salary for the position is$50000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Education:

Bachelors degree in biology neurobiology microbiology immunology genetics chemistry or related area is the preferred minimum.
