POSITION TITLE: Case Manager
REPORT TO: Director Special Education
APPROVAL DATE: February 27 2024
JOB GOAL: To ensure proper referral of pupils for comprehensive assessment to maintain appropriate data in systems and manage caseloads for DMET and students ruled eligible under IDEA. Report to the Director of Special Education.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: N/A
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.Facilitates completion of referral data which includes:
o Instructional intervention
o Case history
o Medical history
o Teacher narrative
o Physical
o Vision hearing
o Pupil personal data sheet
o Local survey committee
o Release of confidential information
- Conducts parent conference in order to obtain written permission for comprehensive assessment Conducts preschool intake conference
- Works with outside agencies to complete intake conference for preschool evaluations Works with Special Education
- Conducts parent interviews to complete various assessments
- Conducts parent interviews as needed
- Manage caseloads in SAMS MSIS and IEP Implementation Systems.
- Collect Specific Data
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Masters Degree required with preferably a certification in special education psychometry and/or guidance counseling. Knowledge of Special Education including evaluation assessment and eligibility criteria under IDEA 2004 (Preferred) Prior knowledge of preschool and school-based assessments for students with disabilities Demonstrates good organizational skills; Knowledgeable of computer technology and software Able to work effectively with district personnel parents students teachers and the general public; Certification in special education; three years of successful teaching in the area of special education; demonstrates knowledge of the referral to placement process.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Masters degree or equivalent. Certification in Special Education Psychometry and or guidance counseling. Full approval in at least one area of special education. Three years of successful experience in special education and/or a related area.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires meeting deadlines with severe time constraints interacting with the public and staff irregular or extended work hours. The employee is responsible for the safety well-being and work output of others. Must be able to meet demands from several people.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee will work in an environment adhering to school board policy. This position may require work hours that vary as a result of evening activities or addition job requirements may require work on weekends holidays and attendance at meetings.
