Position Title: Mechanical Engineer - Summer Intern Company: American Pan Company Location: Urbana OH 43078 Fulltime 40 hours per week (June - August) Salary: $20.00/hr * We are only considering candidates within commuting distance of Urbana OH. * Description As a Mechanical Engineering Intern for American Pan you will be part of a team of engineers responsible for innovating designing and maintaining designs of various industrial baking pans. Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Mechanical Engineering Intern will perform standard engineering assignments involving design development fabrication and process improvement. Primary Responsibilities - Collect and analyze data for assigned projects.
- Support the team in the development of assigned projects.
- Digitize and organize data to build adatabase of standard design practices.
- Develop in-house tools where applicable to improve the ease of performing analysis.
- Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture availability of materials and equipment interchangeability strength-weight efficiency and cost.
- 3D modeling and 2D drawing preparation revision and release
- Develop test and verify new pan components to improve the state-of-the-art capability
- Operate in a team environment coordinating with other functional areas such as manufacturing to provide input to design solutions and participate in design reviews
- Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications - Pursuing a bachelors degree in science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
- Trained SolidWorks user.
- Trained AutoCAD user
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word Excel)
Preferred Qualifications - Coding (VBA Python or similar) experience
- Knowledge of GD&T basics
- Experience with die design and sheet metal forming
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Disciplined and result driven
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Strong technical aptitude including applicable engineering tools and principles
- Good attention to detail with excellent analytical skills
