Job Summary
This is a paid internship range of $22/hr - $39/hr (depending on role and qualifications) for those currently pursuing undergraduate degrees and higher rates for those currently pursuing graduate level degrees.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Sound TransitsIT DevelopmentdepartmentoverseesPassenger Facing Applicationsthroughout the Puget Sound region Link Sounder ST Express and Tacoma Link. TheSoftware Engineerinternwill have an opportunity to be a part of the team that oversees ourPassenger Facing Applicationservicesandlearnhow a large regional transit system is managed.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional position-specific duties.
JOB DUTIES:
- Work closely withEngineers/Solution architects to conform to approved architecture and design.
- Surface technical risks in delivered code or products.
- Work on short term tasks for providing technical and project support toITdevelopmentteam.
POTENTIAL PROJECTS:
- Expanding Trip planning data and enabling new features.
- Enhancing Sound Transit public facing applications.
- Perform DevOps improvements for various services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be a current college student in good academic standing enrolled in an accredited associate bachelors or graduate degree program in Computer Engineering Computer Science Software Engineering or relevant two-year certificate.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Skills in Java or equivalent language HTML REST API Mobile app development.â
- Agile development methodologies techniques and principles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Software development experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed in a standard office environment.
- Subject to standing walking bending reaching stooping and lifting of objects up to 25 pounds; may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery when visiting job sites during construction and when working in the field.
