Office of The Secretary Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinators Office
The Office of the Secretary serves as the departments executive management office. The Secretary is the chief officer of the Department of Conservation and Energy (C&E) in charge of its policy administration and operations.
The Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinators Office (LOSCO) was created by state legislature in 1991. This division serves as the single point of contact for programs related to oil spills in Louisiana. LOSCOs mission is to minimize unauthorized discharges of oil provide for an effective spill response compensate the public for damages to the states natural resources and services and assist the public through education service and public outreach.
A bachelors degree in a geoscience field or engineering plus six years of experience in the evaluation of oil and gas drilling oil and gas production and/or oil and gas transportation mining engineering or geology; OR
A masters degree in a geoscience field or engineering plus five years of the required specialized experience; OR
A doctorate in a geoscience field or engineering plus four years of the required specialized experience.

This Petroleum Scientist Administrator position is located within the Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinators Office Division of the Office of the Secretary and is domiciled in Baton Rouge Petroleum Scientist Administrator is responsible for the overall direction operation and administration of the Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinators Office (LOSCO). The position reports directly to the Executive Director and supervises legal administrative technical and program staff.
