Position Summary

The Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon provides comprehensive surgical and non-surgical care for patients with musculoskeletal injuries and conditions related to sports physical activity and overuse. This role focuses on the prevention diagnosis and treatment of athletic and activity-related injuries with an emphasis on restoring function mobility and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and treat sports-related and musculoskeletal injuries
• Perform orthopedic surgical procedures within the scope of sports medicine training
• Manage injuries of the shoulder knee hip elbow and ankle
• Provide non-operative care including injections bracing rehabilitation planning and physical therapy coordination
• Diagnose acute injuries and manage chronic degenerative or overuse conditions
• Interpret diagnostic imaging and test results
• Develop individualized treatment and recovery plans
• Participate in call coverage and orthopedic consults as required
• Collaborate with physical therapists athletic trainers and other healthcare professionals
• Educate patients on injury prevention treatment options and recovery timelines
• Maintain accurate timely and compliant medical documentation
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Practice Setting

• Outpatient clinic and surgical settings
• Hospital-based and ambulatory surgical environments
• May include elective and urgent orthopedic care

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency
• Fellowship training in Sports Medicine
• Board certified or board eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing state
• DEA registration or eligibility
