OVERVIEW

The Department of Community Services Transportation Division is looking for a Striper Operator to join its Road Maintenance team. As a Striper Operator you will perform technical duties and skilled manual labor in the placement and removal of long-line road striping pavement markings road signs and other related traffic aids and road maintenance work.

Striper Operator duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Using specialized road striping truck to apply striping materials in the proper place time and amounts

  • Providing flagging duties during projects and operate the pilot truck

  • Installing and maintaining traffic devices

  • Researching interpreting and ensuring installations are performed in accordance with codes and regulations

  • Diagnosing repairing and maintaining striping equipment

  • Assisting with sign fabrication including cutting routering and drilling sign blanks

  • Supervising small work crews and others in Pavement Marking and Traffic Devices work

TO QUALIFY

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills: You must have the following qualifications/transferable skills to qualify for this position. Please be clear and specific about how your background is relevant and/or your skills are transferable.

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; AND

  • Two years in traffic maintenance operations and/or road maintenance experience

  • Possession of a valid Class A CDL with air brake endorsement and the ability to obtain a Hazmat and a Tanker endorsement within 60 days of date of hire.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Type of Position: This is an hourly union-represented position that is eligible for overtime.

Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 6:00 am - 4:30 pm (10 hour work days)

Essential Employee: This position is considered essential. The county provides a wide array of services including many emergency-related functions and other services essential to the public health and safety. Essential employees are required to report for duty regardless of decisions to close or curtail other county operations.
