Your role and responsibilities

  • A key purpose of this role is to develop and manage a rolling programme of highway improvement schemes in accordance with S106 contributions and successful CIL bids and other sustainable transport policies.
  • Manage all highway related developer contributions for Suffolk with a focus on maximising the funding and looking for opportunities to secure additional funding where possible through CIL or other sources
  • To keep excellent records of contributions received dates for discharge and information on the specific requirements as detailed in planning agreements. You will be responsible for arranging deeds of variation and providing information to developers about where and when funding is spent.
  • Youll work as part of a small and highly motivated team developing highway improvement schemes with responsibility for providing data sets objectives and funding envelopes that underpin those decisions. There may also be a requirement to undertake public consultations which will require engagement with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

You will need

  • Passion for promoting high standards of sustainable transport by influencing a wide audience as to the benefits for the people of Suffolk.
  • Good level understanding of all aspects of developer contributions and transport policy that will enable the postholder to assess and comment on suitable transport improvements to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Highly developed verbal and written skills to interpret complex legislation guidelines and technical information to produce reports recommendations and advice for a wide range of audiences using a variety of media.
  • Capability of representing the team at meetings with internal and external organisations (as appropriate) to provide expert advice in area of work sometimes in challenging circumstances.

The team

  • The Transport Planning Teams forms part of the wider Transport Strategy team helping to deliver growth across Suffolk.
  • This includes scheme development ensuring all projects comply with relevant Suffolk County policies that support Suffolks growth ambitions. Securing funding and the delivery of new transport infrastructure and initiatives including active travel.
  • You will be part of a team that works together to provide comments on the suitability of new development in highway terms to local planning authorities.
