Medical Technologist
Location: Englewood Florida
Schedule: Full-Time Nights Rotating Weekends
About the Opportunity
A leading healthcare laboratory services organization in Florida is seeking a Medical Technologist to join its hospital-based laboratory team. This organization provides comprehensive clinical laboratory and anatomic pathology services supporting acute care hospitals physician practices surgery centers and rehabilitation facilities across the region.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering accurate high-quality diagnostic results to support patient care.
Position Summary
The Medical Technologist performs complex laboratory testing and analysis to assist in the diagnosis treatment and prevention of disease. The role requires strong analytical skills attention to detail and the ability to work independently during night shifts.
The technologist may assume departmental responsibility in the absence of the supervisor and must demonstrate sound clinical judgment in interpreting patient results.
Key Responsibilities
Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing according to established protocols
Analyze proficiency testing samples within required timeframes
Perform STAT testing within established turnaround time standards
Interpret and correlate patient results including performing delta checks
Complete all required documentation related to patient testing
Review pending and result logs; resolve outstanding workload issues
Communicate unresolved concerns to incoming shift staff
Perform quality control procedures per laboratory protocol
Identify and appropriately handle critical values and problem specimens
Assume departmental oversight in the absence of the supervisor
Education Requirements
Experience
Licensure & Certifications
Active State of Florida Technologist License Required
OR ability to obtain licensure during the hiring process
Technologist License in one or more clinical specialty areas:
Blood Bank
Serology
Chemistry
Hematology
Microbiology
Generalist licensure Highly Preferred
