Your role
You will lead an in vivo epigenome editing programme focused on the delivery of epigenetic editors in mouse liver to modulate target gene expression. Based at EMBL and working jointly with biotech partners you will be responsible for the implementation of in vivo workflows including mouse dosing with AAV and/or LNP coordinated tissue collection and downstream molecular and genomics analyses. The goal is to engineer therapeutic changes in target gene expression.
The role offers a unique opportunity to work at the academicindustry interface providing exposure to translational research biotech operating models and clinically oriented decision-making. The position operates to experimental plans and milestones and is thus well suited to candidates who value structured high-quality experimental execution. There is access to state-of-the-art technologies and full mouse husbandry support as well as training in mouse biology. There is also the oppurtunity to lead and supervise a small team of researchers to achieve the experimental goals. This position is thus an excellent bridge for highly motivated scientists seeking to build future leadership careers in translational biology or biotechnology.
You have
PhD in Gene Therapy Epi(genomics) or a related field and proven research experience in a relevant field.
Experience with mouse biology including working with AAV and/or LNP delivery
Strong experience of core molecular biology techniques (qRT-PCR ChIP cloning etc) and analysis.
Motivation to work in an international team bridging academia and biotech to develop technologies towards clinical translation.
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Fluency in English is essential
You may also have
Experience with liver biology and diseases.
A working understanding or experience with CRISPR design and implementation
Ability to analyse genomics data including RNA-seq or ChIP-seq
Contract length:
2 years with potential to be extendable upto 5 years.
Salary:
At least 3.228 EURO/month after tax
