Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for laboratory testing. This role requires experience in a trauma center setting and familiarity with EPIC/handheld Rover devices. The phlebotomist may be required to float between different locations and must be available for on-call duties and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities:

- Collect blood samples from patients using appropriate phlebotomy techniques.
- Ensure proper labeling and handling of specimens.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Utilize EPIC/handheld Rover devices for charting and order entry.
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control guidelines.
- Float between Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach locations as needed.
- Answer unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
- Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems. Documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Performs selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinates equipment/supply needs. Notifies appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
- Performs any other related duties (e.g. clerical technical duties) as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:

- Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience.
- CPT certification.
- CPT 1 certification.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- Experience in a trauma center.
- Experience using EPIC/handheld Rover devices.
Special Considerations:

- Must be available for on-call duties.
- May be required to float to Providence Mission Laguna.
- Must be willing to float between Mission Viejo and Mission Laguna Beach.
- Weekend shifts are required potentially exceeding every other weekend.
- Radius is 50 miles.
Scheduling:
- Schedule may vary between Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach locations.
- Weekend shifts are required with a minimum of every other weekend.
- Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered.
- Open to accommodating block schedules per manager discretion.
