Job Summary:
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides speech and language therapy services to patients working under the direction of a licensed professional. The role involves assessing patient needs implementing treatment plans documenting progress and collaborating with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes. This position requires a Certificate of Clinical Competence and may involve weekend work.

Responsibilities:
- Assess patients speech language communication and swallowing abilities.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and goals.
- Provide direct therapy services to patients utilizing appropriate techniques and modalities.
- Monitor and document patient progress adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians nurses and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients and families on communication strategies and techniques.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Answer unit phone and directs calls accordingly.
- Performs data entry into electronic medical database systems. Documents patient care and related duties appropriately.
- Performs selected patient registration activities.
- Coordinates equipment/supply needs. Notifies appropriate department of equipment malfunction.
- Performs any other related duties (e.g. clerical technical duties) as assigned.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in a rehabilitation setting
Special Considerations:
- The position may require floating between units.
- Weekend work is required approximately every 6th weekend.
- Block schedules are not required.
- Expected patient ratios: 8
